ATA Lodge had a great weekend March 23-24th attending the The London Fly Fishing Fair 2018
Hand's down this has to be Europe's new "Must Attend" event on anyone's Fly Fishing Calendar!
Wayne, Sue, and Megan McGee together with Eric Aborgast were on the stand for ATA at this year's LFFF 2018.
Once again, The Business Design Center in Downtown London was the venue for this year's 2nd Annual London Fly Fishing Fair. There was a great "vibe" and real "buzz" at this year's show and the Father and Son team of organizers, John and Fergus Kelly did a splendid job once again of putting together an event that has done London proud.
The London fly fishing community deserves a fly fishing fair that pulls together the best brands, and world wide fishing destinations as well as industry leading personalities giving talks and demonstrations that showcase case the very best of what our sport has to offer!
Hywel Morgan did at great job "yet again" behind the microphone as well as demonstrating his superb casting skills!
We were very happy to be able to meet so many people who came by the stand and share about what a great destination ATA Lodge in Alaska represents to the traveling fisher-person.
We were even able to bring one of the the "locals" to the show this year - getting a visa for him was a real "bear", but he was a "BIG" hit. Everyone wanted their picture taken with "Bruno the Alaskan Brown Bear"!
Wayne McGee, co-Owner with son Jacob McGee of the ATA Lodge, was able to give a presentation on each of the two days of the show - showcasing what the Bristol Bay region, and Alagnak River in particular is all about.
This talk generated a lot of interest in our area and the prolific resource it represents to the Intrepid Angler who is willing to travel and experience some of the very best fishing available on the planet!
View of ATA Lodge on the banks of the Wild and Scenic Alagnak River!
Rods bent to the point of breaking all day long at ATA Lodge!
It was great to renew and reinforce friendships not only with past, returning and future clients; but also with colleagues in the UK Fly Fishing Industry. We are looking forward to future visits to ATA Lodge by well known UK Anglers like Pete Cockwill, Toby Merigan, James Stokoe, and Marina Gibson.
Saturday Morning we had a great time of "Q and A" with a group of scouts who dropped by the stand for a visit. There were many insightful questions and hopefully informative answers to these future outdoors-men! We are sowing the seeds of passion for the next generation of anglers!
All in all, we had a great time at the show, and we are already looking forward to next year's event. We have booked the same stand as the last two years, so it should be easy to find us. If you have never been yet, I really encourage you to come and spend a least one day out as a great time was had by all!
So as the sun sets on LFFF 2018, Sue, Megan and I (together with the rest of the ATA crew) are looking forward to welcoming you to ATA Lodge on the Alagnak Wild River, or if not on the river, then next year at The London Fly Fishing Fair 2019!
