COVID-19 Update related to the 2020 Season at ATA Lodge

Dear Family and Friends of ATA Lodge,

The best laid plans of mice and men…..It seems that change may be the only constant we can count on – that and the return of the salmon!

As we move more deeply into a new social reality created by the COVID-19 crisis, we hope that you and your family remain safe, healthy and cared for in these trying times.

In this time of stress and uncertainty, things are changing at a rapid pace, and we do not yet know what that means regarding this season in Bristol Bay at ATA Lodge.  We are monitoring the situation closely and we will communicate more clearly what will happen once it becomes clear the implications, not only in Alaska, but wherever our guests will be traveling from.  At this time, it is impossible to predict what will happen.  We are not ruling out the possibility that things may change rapidly again in a more positive direction.  But we are aware that may not be the case. We all have to wait and see.

Regardless of what happens, it is our commitment to all of you to handle these challenges in a calm, compassionate and fact-based manner. We are also committed to looking forward to the better times we know are in front of us. Of paramount importance is for everyone to realize that this crisis will ask a great deal from all involved whether they be ourselves, our guests, our camp staff and guides, as well as our agents. No single person or entity can bear the brunt of these disruptions alone and all will need to participate in creating reasonable outcomes. We will do all that we can in this evolving situation, and at the same time, we are asking all of our guests to be patient, flexible and work towards reasonable outcomes together with us.

The challenges we are all facing are not our fault.  They are not your fault.  Nor are they the fault of a single nation.  Therefore it becomes our collective challenge and responsibility to work together toward reasonable outcomes as things become more clear. To date, we have been so impressed by how well the vast majority of our guests have taken this less-than-perfect news and we are grateful for those that have made these hard times easier than expected.  We thank you for your ongoing support and understanding in these challenging times and we look forward to seeing you at ATA Lodge when the time is right.

We are aware that you, like us, are concerned and wondering how the present circumstances surrounding COVID-19 worldwide will effect your booking at ATA and this seasons realities. We are closely monitoring the development of the situation which is ever changing at the moment.  So we do not yet know how this will effect us this season. At this time we are planning to be open for business and receive all guests. Should that prove challenging, depending on how things develop, we plan to freeze this years price, and wherever possible try and reschedule your week for either a later one this season or in a future season either in 2021 or 2022.   We are not rescheduling at this moment as too much remains unknown.  Should this prove necessary, unfortunately we can not guarantee that you can have the same week you have this season as some weeks in 2021 and 2022 are already full or have a significant number of reservations on the books with deposits already paid. While we are not presently rescheduling, if the same week you have this season is not available in 2021, we can move it to another available week, or to the same week in 2022.

We hope you are healthy and safe at this time and we hope to see you soon. Please feel free to contact us directly should you feel the need to discuss things with us.
