We've Been Slamm'n Salmon for the past week on the Wild Alagnak River. The Sockeye have been streaming past in their 10's of THOUSANDS! One day they estimated 300,000 entered the river! We expect them to keep running strong for the next 2 1/2 weeks! We've had some great clients coming through our doors and have enjoyed introducing them to this amazing river! It's fun sharing the river with our neighbors, like this beautiful Moose! But with the arrival of the first waves of Sockeye Salmon, the Bears have started to show up and we are seeing Bears every day now chasing after the fresh fish. But that means that Moose sighting are becoming increasingly rare as they fear...

June 8 sees us opening up the river to some super Hot Rainbow Trout action, with plenty of Grayling, Char and Lake Trout to boot!
July will see the Return of the Sockeye in their millions followed by large numbers Kings, Chum, Pinks and finally Silver Salmon all the way through September!

Lake Trout are the largest of the char family and can grow to a massive size. They are Alaska’s largest resident fresh water fish. With distinct spots, elongated bodies and deeply forked tail fins they are easy to identify. On the Alagnak we mostly see these fish during the early season (June through the first week of July) when they are chasing migrating smolt from the lakes down into our river system. They are aggressive feeders and will prey on anything and everything in our rivers.
