July 2023 Fishing Report for ATA Lodge on the Wild Alagnak River of Bristol Bay, Alaska!

July Has Been Epic at ATA Lodge!  Of course the Sockeye Salmon start to stream in to the Alagnak Wild River in Early July.  And they did not disappoint again this season.  The fishing for sockeye was "off the chain" again this year!  Lots of happy guest throughout the whole month were able to catch as many sockeye as they wanted.  Most were released, but many guests retained their daily limits to take fresh salmon back home to eat and share with family and friends!    The run sustained through the whole month and limits were still being caught even the last week, even if it took a little more effort.  The run is strong for about 3 weeks, with...

June 8-18, 2023 Trout Opener at ATA Lodge

Well the 2023 season started with a bang!  What a great opener we have had this year.  June is arguably my personal most favorite time to be at ATA Lodge!     The flight in, guests were able to see moose on their approach, just before landing on the airstrip at ATA Lodge.  And the very next morning, we even saw our first Bear of the season from the property before hitting the water!  Despite the wind and cold, everyone had high hopes for the days of fishing ahead.   It’s been a late spring and the weather was cold and blustery for most of our long opening week.  The mountains on the horizon were full of snow, and the...

ATA Lodge, situated on the Wild and Scenic Alagnak River of Bristol Bay, in Southwest Alaska is anticipating another fantastic season in 2023 after an Epic Season in 2022!! What can we say about the 2022 season that has just finished?  My concern in not about what to say, but rather, how do I fit it all in to one fishing report!!!  2022 was our busiest season ever at ATA Lodge and what a fantastic crew and group of guests we had this year!  Our guests, also had an amazing time experiencing all the fabulous fishing in one of Alaska's most pristine and beautiful locations, remotely located far away from the crowds, and filled with adventure. 2022 saw the season...

ATA Lodge, on the Alagnak Wild River of Bristol Bay - July 2021 Fishing Report

ATA Lodge has been having a fantastic season this year.  What a comeback after the chaos of Covid last season!   We have been so busy with the best guests ever and a lot of great fish being caught!    As June closed the trout fishing remained strong, with so many big trout being caught and released!  We have lost count of the trout over 24" with many over 28" and the biggest taping out at 31"inches long!!! By the 1st of July we were marking Sockeye in the river.  Little did we know what was about to transpire!  This year saw over 64 million Sockeye Salmon return the watersheds of Bristol Bay.  This year's run shattered all existing records,...
